  • SAO Year in Review AY 19-20

As this challenging academic year comes to a close, we’re proud to report that we served over 550 students since May 2019 – a record for our office! Here is our end of year report highlighting our casework and policy projects from this year: https://tinyurl.com/SAOreport20. So much gratitude for the collaboration of our peers, campus partners, and alumni who paved the way!

  • COVID-19 Resources and Support

We recognize how challenging of a time this is for students and want you to know that we are here to support you. This document is intended to highlight some of the resources we think are most relevant at this time. It is not an exhaustive list, and it will be updated with new information.

Please email help@berkeleysao.org for assistance. Wishing you all good health and sending positive energy your way!

  • Office Closure Update

The Student Advocate’s office space will be closed for the Fall Semester. We are continuing our casework, and will continue to take new cases. If you have a question, need to open a case, or want to set up an intake appointment, please email us at help@berkeleysao.org. You can also stop by our drop-in Virtual Hours from 9AM-4PM PST via this Zoom link

  • Office Availability due to COVID–19 Update

In light of recent developments, the Student Advocate’s Office will be operating on reduced office hours starting Wednesday, March 11th. Our office remains operational, and we will be continuing our current casework as well as taking on new cases. However, our physical office is only open for in-person drop-ins and/or intakes from 12-2pm, Monday through Friday, until we close for Spring Break. We encourage you to reach out to us via email at help@berkeleysao.org for timely cases. You can also call us at 510 642 6912. Stay safe and let us know how we can support you!

  • Office Availability during Finals

Our office is closed this week, but we are still taking cases via email. Please be mindful that our caseworkers are students with finals of their own so their response times may be slower. Please email help@berkeleysao.org to receive assistance and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Good luck on finals!
  • Accommodations of Religious Creed

Attention Berkeley students: please be mindful of the university’s Accommodation of Religious Creed. It is the official policy of the University of California at Berkeley to permit any student to undergo a test or examination, without penalty, at a time when that activity would not violate the student’s religious creed.

Please make accommodation requests for the first semester to the relevant professors or graduate student instructors within the FIRST TWO WEEKS of instruction. Note that you can appeal to Department Chairs if you face any obstacles.

For a calendar of religious holidays falling within the 2019-2020 academic year, please refer to this link: https://teaching.berkeley.edu/religious-holidays-2019-2020-academic-year

  • Satellite Advising at EOP
